Is there a BoM-based cost-estimation tool that is compatible with Sage EM v11? We’re in the subcontract electronics manufacturing industry and that is somewhat unusual in that the number of components is far in excess of the number of operations. Most of the cost estimation tools I've found so far are compatible with CRM systems, but not ERP systems (and the ones which are ERP-compatible seem to be integrated or not-SageX3-compatible).

We’re looking for a tool that can extract a BoM from Sage EM v11, along with any existing pricing for the parts called up on the BoM (including any sub-assemblies). Better, one which can:

• work from a customer’s BoM (we are ourselves a subcontractor so rarely if ever have design authority) and their desired purchase quantities (by annualised amount, and or drop rate) to
  • identify the parts which already exist,
  • suggest existing parts for partial matches, and
  • create new parts for those which do not currently exist;
  • allow for attrition/waste rates by BoM line
• Generate a list of parts for submission to potential suppliers as RFQ, track responses, and populate supplier pricing inside Sage EM with the quoted pricing, quantity breaks and lead times, EOQ/MOQ, order multiple/pack size etc.
  • User should be able to select all the new parts for submission by default but also choose whether or not to submit existing parts for price and/or delivery lead time update
• Collate all the pricing from this process for each BoM being quoted
• Calculate any ‘excess’ cost based on the difference between the quantities that have to be purchased based on EOQ/MOQ/Order multiple/pack size, over the minimum quantities to build the customer’s requested quoting quantities for the Bills of Material under examination.
• Then calculate the total ‘per assembly’ selling price, based on collated cost (including that of the labour service on the Sage subcontract BoM) and desired sales margin percentage, and – on sending the Sales Quote within Sage EM, update the Sage EM Sales price list to the relevant customer for the quoted assemblies.

We’re not sure at the moment whether to buy a standalone cost estimation tool that can do what we want, and attempt to integrate it into Sage EM, or develop a bespoke one in partnership with our Sage reseller. If such a tool exists already, so much the better.

Please advise. At this stage I am NOT seeking meetings or telephone consultations; either such a tool exists already, or it doesn’t. However, any info that leads to a solution gratefully received!
