How can I run a crystal report standalone?

Hi  All,

I get the error message "The system cannot find the path specified" when I try to run a report.

The print log file was not helpful for me.

In order to better debug the problem I would like to run the crystal report without X3, because I think this will give me more helpful error message.

Could you please tell me how I can standalone run a crystal report?

Do I have to enter sage erp parameters for this? If so where can I read the values I have to enter for the parameters? (X3DOS, X3ETA etc.)

Thank you in Advance.

Kind regards

From what I found, when you get that error message it means that either:

    • the crystal report document isn't in the correct folder in the database
    • the file path was not entered correctly for the report.  Go to Development > Script Dictionary > Reports

To run a crystal report without using X3, you would need to have the Crystal Reports program downloaded onto your computer (like Word or Excel), and access to the database.

    Hi Allison,

Thank you very much for your answer.

The report is in the correct folder and the file path was entered correctly.

I have the Crystal Reports program (SAP Crystal Reports 2013) downloaded onto my computer and access to the database.

How can I run with the program the report without using X3?

Do I have to enter values for the default X3 parameters? (like X3DOS, X3Eta etc.) If so where can I read the values I have to enter for the parameters? (X3DOS, X3ETA etc.)

I hope I get this way a error message from Crystal Reports Program which helps me to better fix the problem.

    Best regards

I suggest you look into Crystal Report training.  You can run the crystal report by doing a report preview.  For the parameters, it depends on how the report is built and you would need to look further into that with the report writer to get clarification.
