Saling products with potency

Hello,
I am working in pharmaceutical industry. We management potency and we sale products with potency.

But X3 do not allow saling this kind of product. (Error message when I setup the item category)

Does anybody have the same need ? How can I do ?

Thanks

  • Hi Vince.

It's possible that the item category don't have active checks Sold and Deliverable from Flow Types?

    What message shows?

  • Hello

    Flow types are checked

and when I check "potency managed" ... the message is "No potency management for sold products"

and what is the error message? in what point?

  • in reply to SergiSole

Oh scuse me first time don't saw the message.
I think that it's no possible, you must create another product to fabrique this second product of the first product, and sold this second product.

Potency is managed only on purchased product consumed in production. Only material tracking transaction allows to convert the required quantity (expressed in active quantity) into physical quantity (depending on the lot potency).

So ideally, if the sales order is expressed in active quantity, the system would be able to tell the user the physical quantity to issue (depending on the lot). So, one solution might be a customization to do this.
=> A workaround solution, might be possible but it would required some analysis.

If the sales order is expressed in physical quantity (assuming the actual potency must be very closed to the theoretical potency), the solution using a 'fake' BoM level to link a product w/o potency (as parent product) and the product with potency (as only component) might be a good idea. The risk is on the work order producing the component managed with potency. As it  might not behave as you expect: the quantity produced will be in physical quantity and when entering the produced lot into stock, you can entered the real physical quantity and real potency. -> I am afraid the MRP result might be inconsistent.

To sum-up, some tests are necessary to ensure everything is going well.

    I am curious:
Are your sales orders expressed in active quantity or physical quantity?

Do you authorize selling a lot with a potency different from the theoritical potency?
My point is: for pharmaceutical company I expect rubbing alcohol 90° must have a potency of 90 else the lot is rejected. Then, you don't really need to manage potency in Sage X3, this just become a quality characteristics like the pH or colors.
