"This movement cannot be performed, it generates a negative stock"

SOLVED

Good afternoon

I've run into a problem I've never seen before. I only have 1 of a sku on hand but sage is showing we've got 10. So, naturally I will try to issue out 9 to make the stock count correct. Doing so however returns this error:

I tried to get around this by performing a stock count on the item and setting the line to Zero -> Yes, but it generated the same error. It will not allow the count to go below 10.

I noticed there was a similar question here strictly regarding stock counts: https://www.sagecity.com/us/sage_erp_x3/f/sage-x3-general-discussion-forum/155577/stock-count---negative-stock-error-when-validating-movement but I am not sure how to interpret the answer there.

If anyone can elaborate I would greatly appreciate it:)

Thank you,

Zoey

    Hi
To check if your situation is related to the post you mentioned, simply check the date of the stock count sheet (if V12) or stock count session (if V11).
Now the question is: can you check of the finance period related to this date is closed ?
If yes, follow the process ndicated in the post
If no, I can suggest to check if you have allocated stock? Maybe you can share the details of the stock on this product-site (inquiry CONSSDE).

Are you running the stock resynch regularly (FUNSTOR)?
Are you facing the same error when trying to issue the stock using a misc. issue at the exact same date (just to assess if the error is related to the stock count process)?

    Hi!

FUNSTOR worked for me in this case. The last count session for this item was from several months ago and I do not have access to the closed financials, but the quantity has come and gone and come in again since then, so something happened between the last time we received it and now. (There were no allocations by the way).

We do not use LOTS but it looked like something was funky with that:

After running FUNSTOR on the item the issue went away and i was able to adjust the quantity completely out.

Thank you very much for your answer!

I am glad this help. I suggest you running FUNSTOR as a recurring task at least once week ideally outisde of business hours.
