More information about web server errors

SUGGESTED

Hello everyone Slight smile

When trying to create a sales invoice in a custom function we get the following error:

Unfortunately it is very hard to find the source of the problem with only this information. Can I get more information on web server errors? For example, is there a log entry that says in which file and on which line the error occurred?

My colleagues and I have often thought that it would be helpful to get more information in case of web server errors. Not only with this error.

Below the information to the X3 version:

Thank you for your help.

Kind regards

    Hi Bense,

I can help with general information in regards to the logging part of your question.

Yes, there is logging for web services.

Please review KB article 230713124154953 for information on setting the logging values.

Logs can be reviewed in the x3service log file "xtrem.server-XXX.log" (located in the "INSTALLATION BASE\logs" directory, such as "D:\Sage\x3services\logs") and also the Syracuse logs.

For specific errors that you are not able to get additional information about please create a support case so we can inquire with the Dev team on the exact cause of the errors.

    Thanks

    Hi Nevillec,

Thank you very much for your answer.

Is the KB article you referenced not just for when you use ADC? We don't use that. Therefore I also don't have a x3services directory.

Good hint with the syracuse logs. For everyone not knowing where there are located. Syracuse logs are located under SageInstallationDirectory\SyracuseComponent\syracuse\logs.

I found there a little bit more information about the error.

But I don't think that I could solve the problem with just that information.

So when the error more often occurs I would probably need to create a support ticket.

    Kind regards

    Hi Bense,

Even with additional logging on sometimes the errors or information displayed isn't overly useful.

In these cases I do suggest creating a support case where we can verify the details and inquire with the L3 team as to the actual causes of errors noted in logs.

    Thanks

    Hi Nevillec  ,

Thank you very much for your reply.

Yes unforutnately sometimes the errors are not useful. Hopeful this will become better in future x3 releases.

If we get the error more often we will create a sage support ticket.

    Best regards

hi- we have one user (out of over 250) who is receives these fatal errors when in the sales order function and so far we have not figured out the reason.  It doesn't happen every day but few times a week.   on your side is it multiple users or just one?  does it occur when in specific function?  Just curious.

    thanks

    Hi Christine  ,

I did another post on which I had the "target entity not found" error in combination with sales invoice generation (custom solution).

     Target entity not found

Maybe the invoice has more than 250 rows. I had to increase the activity code SIH to 999 and do a dictionary validation for the activity code.

In the linked issue there are also further information how you can troubleshoot the error.

    Kind regards
