Does anyone have recommendations to people that want to do their own patching on Sage ERP X3?

How do you go through the log messages, which ones can be ignored, how to be utilize the deffered validation flag?

  • I received training from Sage PSG for patching. I "shadowed" while we patched my test folder and then I was able to patch my production folder myself.

The log messages are an area I would like to see improved.  I found it to be very cumbersome (especially for 6 patches at one time).

I utilized the deferred validation for my test folder but not my production.  The thought was if I had an issue in production - I would know (and could fix it) before applying the next patch.  Not sure if really makes smart sense or not……….

That's a great idea Jeremy to not use the deferred validation flag in production so that you could see issues immediately.  However, this means patching would have taken longer in production than it did in test.

Why not just run a dictionary validation at the end to catch them all.  Then you get faster patching and catch any problems before a user experiences them.

It might be something to consider in your future patching processes.
