I would use a program called Dataload to automate the process.  Its incredibly useful, it works like excel you tell it what you want to type and it carries out the actions for you. http://www.dataload.com/ and get dataload classic.  Additionally you might have to mess with Tools > Delays.  I set mine to 1 second and start it using the white arrow in the blue circle and set it on your sage window.  

Just go get a coffee and come back and its done.  I call it my little robotic typist.

nice one. I used to use RoboTask for that kind of thing. briliant bit of software for automating tasks but hadn't thought of going down that road for this. just wondered if there was an X3 route tho

Sorry for the late suggestion. You could utilize the import/export feature for the INV count sheets, then set the zero flag to 2 (yes) on all of the rows and import back in. (suggestion relevant for v6 - not sure about v7 but I suspect that it is valid)
