SAP Crystal Reports Viewer software

Does anyone know the cost of the Report editor and viewer built into X3? It is off-the-shelf software and is it possible to buy it directly from Sage and how many licenses does it normally come with? Any comments are welcome.

Thank you.

  • Hi Mirabelli7,

You really need to talk with your sales rep on this. This forum really isn't for the purposes of discussing dollars and cents of sales at Sage, but more of a forum to help people with the software itself.

I will let you know that Crystal Reports designer is a tool that you can buy. The regular report viewer in version 6 and below was a dll used to preview reports, and it was bundled with X3. This only allowed you to view the previously built report files (*.rpt). It wouldn't let you create new report files. In version 7, viewing reports is still built into the software, but we use a different technique. Authoring new report files still requires the Crystal Report designer.

    Bob is 100% correct...

Even if you would have full featured CR designer at your hand, I wouldn't recommend doing any changes in existing Crystal Reports without deep understanding of Sage X3 data schema.

If it happens you have inhouse expertise, then you may take a look at broad CR products offering from SAP:
    www.sap.com/.../overview.html
Where MS Visual Studio Plugin and Eclipse plugins seems to be available for free.

Anyway you should experiment only on Test Folder and/or Test System. And I would recommend creating standard report copies before changing anything.

There are couple articles available online about creating Sage X3 reports:
