Are there any special character restrictions for Product Descriptions ?

Is it advisable NOT to use certain special characters (e.g. @,#,$,%, etc...) when creating setting up product IDs and their descriptions ?

Especially keeping the import/ export templates in mind.

As far as I know, special character (decimal) is an illegal character for the product ID. I also recall that using certain special characters like the registered ® has issues with imports into…
