Sage 300 Email Setting SMTP vs Outlook

Problem:

Explaining the difference between SMTP vs Outlook setting in Company Profile Email Tab

Resolution:

  • If using SMTP ensure you have selected the SMTP tick.
  • If the tick is not selected Sage 300 will use Microsoft Outlook.
  • If SMTP is selected then note that you are then using a service client to send out emails and you will not receive records on your send items because it doesn’t use the Microsoft Outlook/Mailbox sent feature to send out emails.
  • If Outlook is setup then sent emails will appear in the sent mailbox as normal.
  • If Outlook is used you will need to ensure that the desktop outlook version that is compatible to your Sage 300 version is installed. This can be found in the compatibility guide.
