Patch Released | Sage VIP Classic and Premier Release 6.0a and 6.0b - ACB export error "Value Dispose () cannot be called while doing CreateHandle()."

A patch file has been released for Sage VIP Classic and Sage VIP Premier Release 6.0a and 6.0b and is available on the Sage Portal.

The patch file includes an updated program file to resolve the error "Value Dispose ()  cannot be called while doing CreateHandle()" which appears when exporting the ACB payment file from your payroll company.

How do I do I download and install the patch file?

Download from the Sage Portal:

  • Access the Sage Portal
  • Click on Product Updates
  • Select your Sage VIP Classic or Sage VIP Premier
  • Select either Release 6.0a or Release 6.0b (dependent on your current version)
  • Scroll down and locate 'Patch for “Value Dispose ()” error when generating ACB export file (Released 2023/07/19) in the Patch Files section
  • Click on Download in the Software section to start the download process

Once you have downloaded the patch file:

  • Your payroll must be on Release 6.0a or Release 6.0b to install this patch file (the patch fileis compatible with both versions)
  • Take note: If your payroll is on any prior version, you will need to update to Release 6.0a before installing the patch file
  • It is recommended to make a full system backup before extracting the patch. Click here for more details
  • Ensure no other users are accessing the payroll application, when extracting the files
  • Locate the zipped patch file which was downloaded 
  • Double-click on the .ZIP file, which will open with the default program on your computer
  • Select to Extract All the files
  • Select the payroll application folder as extraction location.
  • When prompted to overwrite existing files in the folder say Yes
  • Close the application when the extraction is complete

Once installed, run the ACB export to confirm the error has now been resolved.
