DOES A SUB-GROUP IN CHART OF ACCOUNTS AFFECT ANYTHING, OR IS IT PURELY A SUB-TOTAL FUNCTION?

-I created a new account in Chart of Accounts (2295 in the example above). After, I received a message, the accounts are not in order, and that I needed to add a subgroup before that new account.

-I reversed the original entry that created the new account, and then created another new account in the correct spot. However, I see that I need an accountants edition to be able to delete the account that I am no longer wanting.

-To “fix” this problem, I created a new subgroup account where it said I needed to (2292). Now the accounts are in logical order.

-What that line did though, is grab the numbers from the two accounts above (2280 & 2290), and created a sub-total with those amounts. Normally, these never had a sub-total before.

-What I’m unable to find out, is if this actually affects anything beyond purely creating a sub-total in my chart of accounts? Does this sub-total in any way affect numbers in other reports etc.? It is sub-totalling my CPP and UI Payable, and I want to make sure that those numbers are formed as they should be, etc., and also that my taxes above this are not affected.

    Hi
Heading Subgroup Total and Total accounts are not actual chart of account , they are more of reference accounts. (if you go to general journal, it is not available.

you can modify 2295 from a Group account to subgroup account A type then 2292 is not needed
