I have the 2014 Sage 50 Pro Accounting Canadian Edition. It will not let me move to the new year. I keep getting this message " error occurred while moving current year's data to last year. As a result, the new year could not start."

Does anyone know how to fix this or am I stuck upgrading?

    Hi Lise

    Your options are,

    1. restore backups as test and try to start a new year.

    2. create a test file, clear all historical financial years, then try to start new year

    3. create new file, import lists start fresh

    4. upgrade to 2019 and call support to help with the issue.

Lise: Make a back up of your file and a copy using a different name for testing to find your problem.

Some of the things I have found that can cause the data to not convert to a new year are: duplicate Account Names; duplicate Vendor Names; duplicate Customer Names. In all three cases I would export the records from your test data to Excel and then do an alpha sort on the name file. A quick scan of the column will let you know if there is a concern.

Have you checked the data integrity? This can also put a stop on the conversion. (Maintenance / Check Data Integrity.) If you have an integrity issue it must be resolved. Sometimes all it takes is to run the Advance Database Check from the Maintenance Menu.

Beyond that you would have to consider Jason's suggestions of starting a new data set or upgrading to 2019 and when the data won't convert getting Sage Support to help.

    Hope something here helps.
