Can not open last company files

Hi,

I'm somewhat desperate and trying to access my company files.

I'm on Windows 10. and company records are stored in an external hard drive.

The last time I worked on the files was about 10 days ago.

I tried restoring from Backup but the message I get is "This file already exist. Replace existing file?" But I'm not sure whether I should (need guidance)

I also tried opening the files by selecting "existing company". The message that popped-up was - can not open database because some files are read only files, and to ensure that I have sufficient rights to the files and to try again..

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Update: I'm trying a number of ways to open this company file and now am able to open the software if I click "Open File Location" – this takes me to the C drive where I am able to open "Application".

If I click open "last company" I get a message that indicates, "Can not open company file. (directory listed in external hard drive) followed by "A required data file is missing. Check your data directory to be sure the file is there."

If I attempt to open "existing company" and go to my external hard drive I get the following message I get the same message.
