Networking Computers

SOLVED

Hello.....I spoke with support and was assisted in setting up two computers in my office. Today myself and my assistant were making entries but I cannot seem to bring her work into my computer for checking and correction. I am assuming I use the import/export feature but could be wrong! Hoping for a bit of advice before I make some sort of catastrophic error!

Sage 50 Canadian is a real time program. When an entry is posted it is immediately saved in the data base. It would appear that you are use to a batch system  where one enters and the second verifies and posts the batch. This is not what happens in a real time system. There is no batch to process. If you are using the Premium level or higher with two or more users then the entries are already entered. If you are using the Pro version there is no multi user capability, either you or the other person can open the program for posting but not both at the same time.

If you wish to verify the other person's work I would suggest that you print a report of the journal entries and match the paper work used for entry to the journal entries. Yes, this is after the fact checking, but changes can still be made if not entered correctly.

Just to add to Alwyn's response.  When you are using the program in multi-user mode, you should be using the same file (*.sai) from the same location on the network.  There is no import necessary as Alwyn mentions.

When you both have the file open, go to File, Properties on each computer and see if you can see each other.  At the bottom right corner of the Home Screen you should see Multi-user as well.  If you don't see both of you, check the path and file name on the File, Properties screen to make sure they are the same, I would assume not if you don't see both users listed in the box at the bottom.
