New Company Suggestion

Hello Sage,

I am a long - long - Very long time user.

I work with a lot of truckers - Long Haul Truck Drivers.

Everytime I set up a New Company I have to use a generic setting for this as you do not have any preset accounts for these business.

Can you please add for New Company Truck Driving Transportation Company.

Current Assets

Remove Credit Card receivables - not needed

1500 - Remove Inventory Assets - not needed should be an option maybe?

1. Kilometers driven Start - End

2. Truck and expenses

3. Meals when working

4. Diesel Fuel purchases

Under corporation Equity Should be more defined as nothing shows up under Generic?

Owner Contributions

Owner Draws

REVENUE more define for truck drivers as they don't do Sales they transport goods so sales and inventory is not needed

Under Liabilities

Due to shareholder

Remove Cost of Goods - inventories 5000 - 5350 do not need

Under payroll expenses

Add Contractors

General & Administration Expenses

Change Vehicle to Truck Expenses

Change Travel & Entertainment - to - Meals while working

Remove commissions of all kind

When I saw this message this morning, I thought I would just mention that you can create your own template and add it to the Template Folder.  The program will then read it just like any other template.  However, I tested in 2019 and 2020 and both crash when you put in another file in the Template folder.

So your other options are to set up a file once with the correct chart of accounts, then copy that *.sai file as your template.

Lastly you can always create a file without any chart of accounts, export the chart from a file that you currently use and then import it into the new file.  This takes longer because you must setup all the settings on the Setup menu yourself, including all the linked accounts.  However, while tedious, doesn't take long to go through and set up linked accounts, sales taxes, etc.
