Remote Access

SUGGESTED

I keep getting a pop up when I try to share the company "The connection for remote access failed". I also have been getting a pop up when I open the file that says " The file you want to open is located in a folder used for cloud storage. Working in a file located in this type of folder may cause problems or damage to your data"

I think the two are related but not sure how to fix either. I've tried restoring the company from back up onto my desktop but I keep getting the same pop ups. Has anyone else had this issue?

    Hi  ,

Thank you for reaching out regarding this issue. In case that you haven't already reached out to our support team, please see this article. I've put together key details from the article below as well:

Connection Issue for Remote Access: The pop-up saying "The connection for remote access failed" could be related to where your company file is stored. If it's in a cloud-synced folder (like OneDrive, Google Drive, or Dropbox), this could be causing the issue.

Pop-Up on Opening File: The message about the file being in a cloud storage folder indicates that Sage 50 has detected your data file is within a cloud-synced folder. This can pose risks due to the real-time database nature of Sage 50, which may not be compatible with the slower syncing speed of cloud services.

    Steps to Resolve:

    1. Check Cloud Sync Status: First, determine if your folder is actually synced to the cloud. Instructions for this can be found here.
    2. Relocate Your Files: If your files are in a cloud-synced folder, move them to a non-cloud location. Follow the guide on copying files from one location to another in Windows Explorer, available in the Sage help articles.
    3. For Sharing Data: To share your data with a remote user, consider using Sage's Remote Data Access feature. This is designed for such purposes and avoids the risks associated with cloud storage syncing.

Further Assistance: If you continue to experience issues or need step-by-step guidance, please don’t hesitate to reach out for further support.

Hope these steps help resolve the pop-ups you've been encountering. Your smooth experience with Sage 50 is our priority.

    Warm Regards,
    Erzsi
