Payroll Year End

SOLVED

Good Morning, after I Roll Payroll into the New Year 2024, and I have some differences I need to correct for CPP for the old year, can I still go back to the old year and make those adjustments?

    Hi  ,

Thanks for reaching out. Sage 50 Canada does allow you to work with two calender years with some limitations, here are some key points to consider:

    1. Adjusting Payroll Cheques: Sage 50 does not have a direct way to adjust or reverse a payroll cheque run. However, you can adjust each paycheque individually. This process involves selecting the Paycheques icon, adjusting the paycheque through the Payroll Journal, and then processing the necessary adjustments. This method can be used to correct individual paycheques for CPP differences.

    2. Remittance of Uncontributed EI or CPP: If you've verified through the PIER report or with the CRA that CPP or EI was under-contributed, and your bank reconciliation for the year is already complete, you can accrue the EI payable and CPP payable accounts to reflect a future payment in the new calendar year. This should be done without affecting the bank balance of the incorrectly calculated paycheques.

    3. Caution: Always back up data before adjustments. For significant or complex changes, consulting with a Sage expert or CPA is advisable for accurate compliance.

I hope this guidance helps. If you require further assistance or have additional questions, feel free to reach out.

    Warm Regards,
