    Hi

Since it looks like you are using Sage 50 Canada, I am going to move this post to that Support Group so that other users of this software will see it and can offer you their thoughts and insight.

Related to your question though, first ensure that you have determined the start and end dates of your fiscal year, as these will be needed during the setup process. Also, decide on the earliest transaction date you want Sage 50 to process.

If you're encountering issues at the step where you're creating a new database, there are a few things we can check:

    1. Installation Folder: The issue you’re seeing could indicate that the BLANKDB template folder is missing from the local installation folder. This can be due to the folder being deleted or moved, or your antivirus/firewall may have interfered with the installation. You can temporarily disable your firewall/antivirus and reinstall Sage 50 to restore the necessary files.

    2. .NET Framework Issues: Sometimes, the .NET Framework may have issues that can be resolved by following Microsoft’s repair guide. Please visit the links provided in the article content to repair or reinstall .NET Framework.

    3. File Location: Ensure that you’re not trying to save your company file in a cloud-synced folder such as OneDrive, DropBox, or Google Drive, or in the Program Files directory. Instead, save it in a local folder, such as C:\Sage, to avoid permissions issues.

    4. Run as Administrator: Running Sage 50 as an administrator can sometimes resolve permission-related issues. To do this, right-click on the Sage 50 icon and select 'Run as administrator'.

    5. Windows Settings: Verify that your Windows regional format is set to Canadian English, as this can affect how the program operates.

If you’ve already tried these steps and are still facing problems, we can look into more specific solutions, such as checking the permissions on the directory where you’re trying to create the company database, or looking into any potential issues with your Windows user profile or account.

You may also consider the following methods:

    • Verify Date Format: Check that the date format in your Windows settings is set to English (Canada), as this can affect the creation of company files.
    • Reinstall Sage 50: If none of the above steps work, you might need to uninstall and then reinstall Sage 50. Please make sure to follow the steps provided in the article content for reinstalling the software.

Hope this helps! If you require more detailed assistance, feel free to chat with support, and they can guide you through the process.

    Warm Regards,
    Erzsi
