What the heck has happened to the interface of these Sage Forums?

Everything has been transformed and now nothing is as user-friendly or intuitive as before.
I'm really surprised that nobody has thus far commented on it, or created a thread about it.

There are heaps of bugaboos:   Each Forum now displays only 15 topics per page, unlike
the previous 35.   Everything is now EXTRA spread-out -- not just vertically but horizontally
across the entire width of the page.  The 'rich formatting' seemingly doesn't work at all, etc.

But the biggest fail of all is the fact that the top 6 cms of EVERY page is PERMANENTLY
masked/blocked by 4 elements usurping 1/3 of the page:
1 -- the Sage masthead with "Solutions Support Community Advice Partners"
2 -- a woefully & unnecessarily oversized Search Box plus 4 lamentable icons
3 -- a monster-sized sub-menu that could easily be made less than 1 cm high
4 -- a needless sub-sub-menu displaying which forum we are currently surfing.
Furthermore, in the screenshot below, it's utterly laughable how only "General Discus..." is
displayed, despite the amount of free space immediately to the right:

However, the worst aspect of all is that on every thread, VERY LITTLE is actually VISIBLE.
Only 4 inches is viewable at any given time, and the"More Content" box continually covers
important content:

I can appreciate that this new Sage City forum is possibly meant to be a 'mobile' version,
but has it occurred to anybody at Sage that we don't do our Accounting or post any of our
Transactions or Journal Entries on a phone?

Please don't go the route of what 'Yahoo! Answers' did last year -- namely 1) ruin the site
for everybody, 2) turn into a dodo, and 3) become the laughing-stock of the internet world.

I've been reporting issues to the mayor via email, as far as 'rich formatting' - point to about 1/2 a character height about the words - yes it's one of many bugs that they looking into

    Steve,

I also sent an email to the Mayor back on Jun 25 regarding the inability to Use rich formatting link, the blocking of text by the More Content box, etc. The Rich formatting link did work for a couple of days but it is not working again now.

I always get a message about secure content asking if I want to show it. Turns out it is only the links to all the social media icons at the top of the page, the ones at the bottom of the page are apparently delivered securely.

I don't see a way to mute a conversation anymore either... I now get emails after emails on subjects I dont care about. I dont want to stop receiving email about certain subjects but I want to be able to mute certain ones if i dont think its relevant to me at the moment. How do I do that now?????????????

Wooohooo...I just got in and surprised about the new look. I don't know if I like it yet...seems harder to navigate.

At the top of the discussion thread, just under the grey navigation is a button called More.  If you click on that, you will see an option to Mute that thread.

ok I see so it's no longer available in the email just here... I have to cick on the email it will bring me here then click on the mute?
  • 0 in reply to LaChapa
That's correct, for now. I will look into why the mute option is no longer listed in the email notification. We are still working out a couple of issues with those since the upgrade.

    Hi Steve,

Many of the design issues you raise above are due to the site being mobile responsive now, so that Sage City can be viewed on tablets and smartphones, which is how more and more of our users are accessing the community.

Some of the other issues you raised, such as number of posts listed per page, are design choices. We are still gathering feedback and will make changes as necessary. Please note that the More Content box can be x'ed out to see the rest of the page.

Thanks for your feedback and please bear with us as we work through a few issues since the upgrade.

    Thanks,
    Derek

    This is my particular favourite:

There could be damage to the ol' carpal tunnel trying to get up to speed, if you didn't notice the teensy grey, but active icon.

    Hi Randy,

That setting has been fixed. The latest Announcement posts are now showing!

    Thanks,
    Derek

I am unable to sign on to this community on my smartphone with the same log-in name and p/w. Why? Could it be that I am accessing a US site rather than a Cdn site and if so then how do I select the Cdn site?
  • 0 in reply to Smith and Co
I finally got onto the Cdn SageCity forum but not sure how - it is not very straightforward at all. You should have the option for Cdn or US first then the rest of the various sites. If I click on anything I am forwarded to the US products. So for a new Canadian user I don't see how your new website will help those looking for Cdn products/forums/etc.
I see all the latest responses to questions but I do have to click on these latest responses in order to see the original question. When searching for consultants this section is too far to the left and makes it very difficult to put a check mark in either the Consultant section or the Accounting/Bookkeeping section.

    Hi Smithco,

You can log in to Sage City on any device (desktop, tablet, smartphone) with the same email address and password.

There is only one version of Sage City...you do not have to pick your country. In the list of products with support communities, you do have the choice of Sage 50 CA or Sage 50 US, but these are available to anyone in any country.

Based on your post, it sounds like you may have been trying to access na.sage.com instead, where you do need to select your country and which contains information on searching for consultants.

    Thanks,
    Derek

    Derek,

Kudos on how the new search allows searching ONLY within the Canadian Sage 50 forums.

The old search was not as good as picking through the flotsam and jetsam of the entire Internet with a generic search engine.

And yes, na.sage.com/ca is still pretty suck-ey.

If I pick the product as Sage 50, it recognizes my country as Canada. everything on the page is Canada, the dropdown is 'Canadian (English) and there's information about the Quebec VSRP.

So, I click on one of the links under 'third party solutions' and I get a list of point-of-sale products that work with... Peachtree.

Scrolling up and down the dropdown list unchecking and rechecking ALL boxes under EVERY product is not as intuitive as it's designer might think. My first impression was 'website was made by monkeys - doesn't work at all'.

    Hi Randy,

Actually, the search engine allows you to search within a forum, within a group, or across the entire site.  It all depends on where you are at on the site for which options are available.  Click on the image below to enlarge.

Unfortunately, your other comments relate to na.sage.com and not Sage City.  The black banner across the top of the page takes you back to na.sage.com, while anything below that is for Sage City.  Hope that clears up the confusion.

    Thanks,

    Derek

ok - that might be my problem - I just typed in Sagecity and then let the internet come up with the results. It comes up with sagecity.na.sage.com so I clicked on that and it comes up with Sign In or Log In. I clicked on Log In and it comes up with ph nbr 866-966-7243 plus tabs for Sage Products, Support, Partners, Community, Countries, and last tab is About Sage.
Am I in the wrong area at this point?
  • 0 in reply to Smith and Co
Yes, you should be on sagecity.na.sage.com. I would bookmark it in your browser and then go directly there in the future to avoid any possible confusion.
