Revision No. VS Bom Number

What is the difference between revision no. and bom number for BOM? Right now the BOM number is what we use to reference a change has been made (a revision) and the revision no. always stays at 1.00

  • Which module are you referring to?  Sage 300 IC BOMs don't have revisions.

  • I'm assuming you're talking about AutoSimply's Manufacturing Module. From my understanding, an item can have multiple BOMs, and BOMS can have multiple revisions. In M/F, it's the combination of BOM Number + Revision Number (unlike I/C which is simply just the BOM Number) which determines the recipe/formula for the item. M/F just gives you another level to group things together if needed I suppose.

  • This is in the M/F tab for Bill of Materials in Sage 300

does this help explain what I'm talking about? The Bom Number highlighted above is where we actually keep track of the Revision of each BOM and an item number can have many different BOM Revisions. Where on the other hand the Revision No. also highlighted yellow, it always stays at 1.00, we don't touch that at all. Are we supposed to rev both or only one? I can't figure it out. hope that helps.

    thanks
