What Crystal Reports runtime engine use Sage 300 2022?

SUGGESTED

Hi everyone,

We just upgrade an old Sage 300 ERP v2012 to a new server with Sage 300 2022 Update. Not a problem.

But a custom application IT create with VB that use Crystal reports is not working, apparently for some crystal runtime engine conflict.

What Crystal report runtime engine uses Workstation setup? All programs at server.

Thank you very much

  • From the 2022 Release Notes:  "Sage 300 2022 includes SP30 for SAP Crystal Reports runtime engine.

...which apparently is version 13.0.400 https://answers.sap.com/questions/13543329/crystal-report-2011-with-vs-2015-on-windows-server.html

In the past, I have had conflicts between applications using Crystal Reports v8 and modern versions.  Literal situations where when one application is re-installed, Sage 300 Crystal breaks, and when re-installing Sage 300, the other application's Crystal breaks.  It can be frustrating. Hope you can find a common version between the two that works.

    Hi Oscar,

Crystal runtime engine conflicts is not the only issue you may have. I think it is worth sharing my recent experience.

Going from Sage 300 ERP v2012 to Sage 300 2022 is quit a long jump. About 2 years ago I did a similar migration (to v2019) and noticed several changes in table layouts. This affected several of the CR reports .

I opened those reports in CR Designer which raised a message informing that a table or tables used in the report had changed and gave an option to update it which also saved the report in the new CR version. So, I updated several reports following these steps.

    Cheers

    Hi Accsys Consulting AU,

Yes I saw that release not but dont clear what version as typically we use with that version Crystal Reports 2016 for Sage to design new reports or update pre-build but not sure what version its is runtime. From your link I check registry entry and it match version 13 but in my case 13.0.26.

Yes its very common that issue.

    Thank you very much

    Hi Tascoli,

Yes we did that and almost all reports working just a couple that for tables update we need to fix.

But in this case is more related to different CRE that use custom application and Sage 300.

    Thank very much

I just did a Workstation Install and noted it said it was installing the Crystal Reports Release 2011 Runtime.  I've never edited reports in a newer version of Crystal than the runtime so I'm afraid I don't know what will happen if you use the 2016 editor.  I do have a client who I'm sure edits reports in version 2013 and they haven't reported a problem.  I checked our local Sage office and the version they sell for Sage 300 report editing is just listed as "Crystal Reports" so I am not sure which version they recommend.  I would check with your local Sage office that handles sales, subscription renewals, etc.
