That product hasn't changed in decades, the new version won't get any faster.  It sounds like a poorly configured SQL server.

Any tips where to look in SQL server configuration?

Just the usual stuff. Use SSD drives, install Sage on SQL server to eliminate network lag

You need to stop the new Sage Advisor that is running in the background, it makes a huge difference as in 5 minutes turned into 3 hours for a simple account code change.

You will see on your server Sage 300 advisor environment updater and that it's clogging up your server.

Look up KB 110298  and follow it to the letter, make sure it's stopped right down to the lowest levels on the file structure.

I have found this speeds up a lot of other things too.

In the Shared Data\Company folder, there is a folder called "AdvisorLogs" which records every screen opened by Sage 300 Users..

And with account code change, it seems to record every change and its causing major issues since version 2022 so it's not the number changer that has changed but the Sage programs around how they act.  KB 110298  is the answer

That was it , down to one hour from 20 hours.

I also forgot to mention

In addition to this, one should then also set the AdvisorLogs folder in Shared data as Read-only as well.

 This normally prevents the logs from being generated, even though some background process(es) may continue to run.

You need to go down to the deepest roots of that folder, disable all inherited permissions for all users, including Owner as well as admin.
