Upgrade path for peachtree premium accounting 2011 (sr-7), build 18.0.07.1595

SUGGESTED

I have  peachtree premium accounting 2011 (sr-7), build 18.0.07.1595 on a Windows 7 machine and have two issues:

  1. I cannot install this version on a Windows 10 OS, therefore having to keep a separate PC with Windows 7 just for Peachtree.
  2. There appears to be a 2 year limit for open years in PT 2011. My workaround has been to start a “new” company every 2 years so that I could keep prior years open.

I'd like to upgrade to a newer version to resolve both of the above issues. What is the most recent version of PEachtree/50 that can be upgraded from v.2011?

Peachtree is now called Sage 50 Premium and the 2018 version will convert version 2011.  2018 is compatible with W10-os, however you can't keep more than 2 years open. You can view, report and extract the data in closed periods but Sage will not allow you to change anything in closed periods.

Sage 50 is offered as a subscription plan which means you have to pay every year or you will not be able to enter any data once you let the subscription lapse. Or you can purchase Sage 50 Traditional Plan which means you own it and you do not have to renew your plan to continue to enter future data. Sage 50 Traditional Plan is not offered directly from Sage, but you can purchase either plan through an Authorized Sage Solution Provider.  I am a  Sage Certified Consultant- Solution Provider authorized to sell and support Sage 50products. Not sure how involved it is for you to start a new company every year so I would like to make this suggestion.Perhaps this is already your process. Every year before you close the year Sage requires a backup, then you close the year. I would restore that backup (prior to the close) to a new company. When the new company opens, go to Maintain Company info and change the name to reflect the open period such as 2016.

My answers are in caps below:

    1. I cannot install this version on a Windows 10 OS, therefore having to keep a separate PC with Windows 7 just for Peachtree. CORRECT, YOU CANNOT MOVE TO WINDOWS 10 WITHOUT UPGRADING TO 2018.  IT IS THE ONLY VERSION SUPPORTED BY SAGE.  MICROSOFT HAS BROKEN THE .NET FRAMEWORK OF THE PROGRAM AND THE 2018 PROGRAM WILL BE THE ONLY ONE THAT WILL BE PERMANENTLY REPAIRED.
    2. There appears to be a 2 year limit for open years in PT 2011. My workaround has been to start a “new” company every 2 years so that I could keep prior years open.  SO WHEN YOU READY TO MOVE AHEAD, YOU SIMPLY GO THROUGHT THE YEAR END WIZARD CLOSING OUT PERIODS 1-12 AND OPENING UP PERIODS 13-24.  THEN YOU CAN GO BACK AND RESTORE THE BACKUP BEFORE THE WIZARD TO A NEW COMPANY AND RENAME THE COMPANY TO SOMETHING LIKE "2016-17 XYZ COMPANY"  IS THIS WHAT YOU ARE DOING?

NOTHING HAS CHANGED WITH THIS PROCESS.

I'd like to upgrade to a newer version to resolve both of the above issues. WE CAN GET YOU TO A WINDOWS 10 BUT HAVING 2 YEARS OPEN IS STILL THE WAY SAGE 50(FORMERLY PEACHTREE) WORKS.

What is the most recent version of PEachtree/50 that can be upgraded from v.2011? YOU DEFINATELY WANT 2018.  IF YOU CALL US WE CAN DISCUSS YOUR CURRENT NEEDS AND HELP YOU CHOOSE WHAT IS RIGHT FOR YOUR COMPANY.
