Closed Fiscal Year - ReOpen?

Our accountant filed an extension for 2022 tax filing and did not give me adjusting entries for fiscal year 2022 until after I closed the fiscal year. Is there a way to reopen the closed year?  Accountant says dating them 1/1/23 isn't right

OMG - I found a solution from 5 years ago - It Works!!!

There is no way to edit or delete entries that are in a closed year. But you can import a journal entry into a closed year. The first step is to make a backup (File menu > Backup). DO NOT skip this step as there is no other way to undo this process if something goes wrong. After making the backup, the easiest method is usually to make the entry in the current year, export it (File menu > Select Import Export), then delete the entry out of the current year. Now open the export file either in Excel or Notepad and change the date to the date you want in the closed year. Save your changes. Finally import the file (File menu > Select Import Export) and then check your reports to make sure it is right. If not, restore the backup you made at the beginning of this process.

Hello CCD, if that works for you good... However, please keep in mind that if you have to go into your backup to retrieve historical data the information in your current company will not reflect that change in your historical data. I would recommend restoring the data from your year end and enter the data that you imported into your closed year and then reclose just so the reporting would be correct should you need to pull data later.

This import option into a closed year could create footing errors in the GL so it might look like the Balance Sheet ties out but I would double check things by running the General Ledger report for all of 2022 and see if any errors pop up.
