how to get Quantity on Sale order to change Qty on hand?

Can anyone tell me how to get quantity on Sales orders to lower my quantity on hand? We have multiple personnel entering sales orders, and if the qty on hand does not take into account items on Sales order, we could oversell our stock. leading to delays and confusion when the warehouse is pulling the orders. If there is a solution for this please let me know.

    You would need to look at quantity available not quantity on hand. Quantity on hand is the actual quantity you have regardless of what is on the Sales Orders since any Sales Order can change quantities anytime before the Sales Order is shipped then becomes a Sales Invoice where the quantity on hand is reduced by the quantity shipped. You can set up a warning message in Inventory Item Defaults, Ordering Tab, Sales Order out of stock warning if inventory is out of stock based on quantity available.
