If you have a credit memo or receipt applied to the invoice you can't change the Customer ID.

If the invoice has any "Related Transactions" it cannot be edited.

If it is not paid, YES. Simply change it. If a receipt is visible, remove the invoice payment, change the customer ID and reapply the payment to the new customer ID.

How do you recommend issuing multiple checks in varying amounts to multiple customers from a single receipt to revenue?
An example would be for a government agency to issue jury payroll to jurors using a single deposit.

If I may, ask a question for other pieces to various and similar government 'trust' deposits that will either:
1. Be disbursed to multiple vendors (as described above and you kindly answered) -
2. Be returned to the payer (same customer id used when receipted). This is EASY. Assume I would issue a credit memo and then issue a check, applying the check to the credit memo. Note: at time of receipt it is NOT known if it will be disbursed to vendors or refunded in whole or part to payor.
3. Or, be used in whole or part to pay fees against an invoice. Any remaining amount after applying to invoice would be refunded to payor ID.
4. And finally report on all of the remaining balances of trust deposits, in whole or part with the original payer id. Additionally report on all those same trust deposits that have been disbursed or refunded where balance = 0.00. The Intelligence Reporting report Sales Analysis seems to capture both described reports as long as a credit memo is first used for the 3 scenarios above.
QUESTION please. To accomplish 1 - 3 plus the two described reports, would it work and/or is there any reason not to create a credit memo and then a journal entry to another income amount in order to disburse to vendor(s) and customer(s) when the payer id is different than the payee on the check(s)?
