Is there a way to globally set all inventory parts to an on-hand quantity of zero? thanks!
Yes but you should discuss with your CPA first.
Deleting PARTS that have history or inventory will take until the PAST history months expire
( how long does BW hold on to data?)
I know that , I'm replying to Carlotta's 2nd post about cleaning up the inventory by DELETING parts
I have had old transactions hold up the complete deletion of a PartID by up to 4 years because…

DeeDee,
We want to clean up the inventory, deleting obsolete parts (rolls) since we've been using Sage BW for decades. Some of the roll goods that are in the system always have an on-hand balance because we don't sell the rolls; a portion of the roll goods are used in manufacturing to make another product. The on-hand balance isn't accurate any way and the op-hand balance is not utilized.
I appreciate your input.

OK so there are a couple of ways to do it - I would use the Physical Inventory process. You can get this information in the inventory module. Print out the physical inventory sheets - Yes you have to Print them - You can print to PDF but you have to print for the system to work properly. Make sure no one is doing anything in the BW software. When you use the Physical process - use the ACTUAL option as this will allow you to just type ZERO in the Quantity field. Accept - If the ROLLS are in a specific Product Line - You could just do that Product Line - Print it and do the adjustments. I would try this first as is the BEST option. Let me know what you decide.
