Hmmm…it may relate to what are you trying to edit on the sales order.  The system will allow you to Add, delete/(cancel) or edit the quantities on the line items on sales orders that have been partially invoiced. 

I tried to do a quick test for you:

I opened a partial invoiced Sales Order and went into Line Items…, all the lines items display.

If I highlight a line item and select Edit, I am able to modify the quantities for Order, Ship, and Cancel.

If I highlight the line item and select Long Desc, I am able to edit the long description

If I go to the top and select a new part to add to the sales order, it allows me.

The system did not allow me to edit U/M, Discount, Account, or Tax status.

What are you trying to edit?

We need to change a selling price for an uninvoiced item , and add a few more items to the sales order.

It will allow you to enter new items but not edit the price on an existing line item.  OR....You can cancel out the qty on the line item with the wrong price and adding it as a new item with the new price.
