Upgrade to version 18 needed to process W2s thru Aatrix

We are using Aatrix to process our W2s and I want to know if I need to update my software prior to doing this. We are currently running 17.1.8 and I've been reading about a lot of issues with version 18. I want to get W2s processed prior to closing the year and updating to version 18 (in prep of processing my 2020 payroll this weekend).

So.....do I need to update to use Aatrix for 2019 W2s?

check out article 101944 2019 Year-End Software FAQ - 18.4 is the supported year-end version including 2019 US year-end and quarter-end goverment related forms....

But if I'm not using any "forms" from inside Sage, do I need to update to run W2s? All the forms are in Aatrix.

All forms now run thru Aatrix...not directly in Sage, but in concert with Sage. So, yes you have to upgrade for printing forms in order to have the correct process and formats to have the supported version.
