Can you check one of the salaried employee's - Setup - Employee - their Tax button - What is the YTD Subject-to for FWH?

YTD subject-to for FWH is the the taxable amount on today's paycheck.

Yes the tax tables look like that.

I cannot figure out why this would be.  I wonder if 2023 tax table was ever downloaded and installed?  So you're actually comparing 2022 tax table effects to 2024?  

I think inside Server\Timberline Office\9.5\Accounting\Misc\Download tax you would see what files have been downloaded.  They represent a year and month in the folder name. 

Then in Server\Shared\Timberline\Co Data Folder\Backup Tax you would see what files were updated.  These two have a date in the file name of the date the update tax was ran.  It could be last of December '22 or first of January '23.  

My FWH went down on salaried employees by a little bit in 2024 vs. 2023.  

Using the tax calculator under Tools resulted in a much lower expected FWH deduction. What could have caused FWH taxes to be 18%-30% more than what it should be?

I checked that. 2023 was downloaded and updated on 1/3/2023 at 8:56am. I'm completely stumped.

Me, too.  I don't know if state tax rates affect how federal is computed, but if it does, then maybe your state went down so federal went up?

No - we are Florida. No state income tax.

Did Pretax deductions change?

Did this happen to everyone or just a few employees? Are the pre-tax deductions the same, less, more for those you are looking at?

There are several factors that determine the amount of FWH tax that calculates in Sage 300 CRE Payroll.

Here are some things to check:

Setup, employees - Note the Pay Group and on the Entry Info tab the Filing status and if the Use W-4 Amounts is checked, the amounts, of it it's not checked, the exmemptions.

Click the Taxes button and see if there is an Adjustment Method FWH, or if FWH mistakenly got entered in any of the Recip Tax ID fields.

Next go to Setup, Pay Groups, note the Pay Frequency for this employee's pay group.

Now with all of this info, go to Tools, Tax Calulator and enter the values that match this employee and see what calculates. If the tax calculator is lower than what calculated on the paycheck, you can contact support to look into this further.

Did you ever find a reason for the FWH not calculating correctly?

I did not have this issue in the beginning of the year, but a couple of weeks ago, on a handful of checks (seeming where the W-4 Amounts were more than 0) the FWH tax was not calculated correctly. I use a third party payroll company to print checks so I just reconcile the registers each week and the FWH has been off by $20 - $50. I, again, downloaded and updated taxes and the effective date is 1/1/2024.
