CARES Act: U.S. Payroll reporting for Sage 300 CRE

For information about the CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security) Act and how to obtain reports from Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate, see KB article 104167 How can I provide Payroll reporting for the CARES Act (H.R. 748)?

  • Is there a report that also includes payroll fringes? My understanding is you can include employee benefits like group health care benefits for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). We have our health insurance costs accruing as a fringe for both salary and union employees.

Adam - we have just completed a Crystal Report design that brings all the reporting pieces for the PPP application together on one report.  Please e-mail me at [email protected] to see if this might be a solution for you.  Thanks.

  • in reply to Adam L

Hi @Adam L - thank you for your question. The article mentioned above has been updated with information on pulling reports that include fringes.

  • in reply to Terry Todd

So when reading through which fringes can be included in the PPP application, you can only include insurance premiums and retirement contributions made by the employer.  Is there a way to get the total amount paid for specific fringe ID's?  The above article has a fringe report, but you can't specify a fringe ID.  It gives a total for all fringes paid.  We are going to need to be very specific with the fringe ID.

Does your report allow you to choose specific fringe ID's?

  • The Aatrix report for the 2nd quarter 941 form doesn't seem to be calculating correctly...has anyone used this form for reporting?  Specifically line 7 that gives a red box that is supposed to be for rounding...our box has 53, 000 dollars in it!  That can't be correct!

I’ve completed my Q2 941 report. If you have any employees that were paid FMLA through the CARES Act and deducted those costs from your 941 Deposits, you need to fill out Worksheet 1 to properly account for those deductions. Otherwise, it puts the difference in Fractions of Cents rather than the CARES deduct line.

WE DID NOT DEDUCT ANYTHING FROM OUR WEEKLY DEPOSITS.  WE ACCUMULATED TO TAKE AT THE END OF THE QUARTER.  THIS IS WHERE WE ARE FINDING AN ISSUE.  HOWEVER, WE DID DO AN UPDATE AS SUGGESTED BY SAGE AND DOWNLOADED TAX UPDATE AS WELL. WE WILL TRY AGAIN TODAY TO SEE IF THAT ISSUE IS CLEARED UP.

    Hi Majotmech,

If you are claiming tax credits for COVID related expenses, those credits need to be accounted for on your 941 (for Monthly schedule depositors) or on your Schedule B (for semi-weekly schedule depositors).

For more information, see the new Form 941 and Schedule B instructions here, or contact your tax accountant:

    Thanks!

Same here, just read this comment as I posted another one farther up a minute ago.

Ahh makes sense now after reading the Schedule B instructions.  Thanks.

  • We use named fles in PR.  In prior quarters, we were able to save and merge data together for a single EIN.  That option is not appearing for Q2 2020, 941 and state reporting.  Is Sage addressing this, or am I forced to modify ALL of the pre-filled data manually?

Disregard.... I found that the Company Setting had changed from "multiple" to "single".  I am the only person who does the tax forms, so I suspect it occurred with the Aarix forms updates.

  • is there no way to track Covid sick wages in Sage payroll? We are doing our 941's manually and tracking wages outside of the system. is Sage not going to help with getting our 941 data correct? It's definitely disappointing to be filing these manually. thanks!

    Hi TinaD,

We do have a process for tracking and reporting Covid-Sick and Covid-FMLA wages in Payroll.

Here is a link to the setup instructions in our Knowledgebase:

How do I set up pays to pay employees associated with the HR_6201 - Families First Coronavirus Response Act?

Also, here are some helpful instructions for filling out the Form 941:

Federal form 941 changes effective Second Quarter 2020

    Thanks!

Hi Tina, I'm not a payroll expert but I reviewed the various KB articles as they were written, so when I saw your post on a Friday afternoon, I want to help if I can. I found KB article 103397 titled, How do I set up pays to pay employees associated with the HR_6201 Families First Coronavirus Response Act. Does this have the information you need? There are several Covid19 related KB articles; recommend using Covid as a search term in the knowledgebase.  The manual nature of filling is due to several factors - IRS did not finalize Form 941 until just a few days prior to June 30, and so much of the form is dependent on which relief options you took advantage of, how you set up your pays, etc. Sage created 2 new reports to help you identify covid related wages if you have been tracking them in payroll. See KB articles 105192 - 941 Reports for Second Quarter, KB 104105 - Are there reports I can use to track my COVID19 Pays and Employer Social Security Amounts (reports linked), and 2 training videos attached to KBs 105499 and 105502. The Aatrix Form 941 and Worksheet 1 will prefill some content between the 2 forms, but much of it must be entered manually. I hope this helps, Tina!

Thanks Judi. I'm just surprised that there's not a way to be able to track the Covid-19 sick and family leave wages and have the information carry over to the 941 instead of having to do it manually. Was hoping since most of the other payroll softwares are not forcing us to do it manually that there was an option in Sage that I wasn't aware of that was a bit more helpful around not doing it manually.

  • in reply to Jesse Gordon

I was really looking more for why we can set the wages up but then have to manually adjust the 941

  • in reply to TinaD

Oh, I see. I'm reasoning that it's due to the fact that this is a new feature, not finalized early enough by the IRS for Aatrix to be able to accommodate the various ways different payroll systems  might have set up the pays. I am hopeful there will be refinements to this process as it becomes more "normal" (is anything normal anymore?) so we can automate more of it but we shall see! As we approach each quarter, be sure to check the knowledgebase for updates or look for complimentary release training on Sage U. Thanks, Tina!
