Estimate Templates?

Is there a way to create a template for estimates so that i don't have to add all the items each time i start a new estimate?

We have several because I'm a big fan of checklists. If I want to make a template for a CM project, I start a template by creating a new estimate with all the items that I want in it - GC's, most common standard Work Categories and pertinent addons. I name the estimate something like "@ CM template" (or "@ hard bid template" or "@ design-build template", etc). The "@" makes the templates rise to the top of the list of estimates when I search to use them.

To use it, instead of creating a new estimate to start a new project, do a File->Copy Estimate, grab the one you want (which is now at the top of the list of estimates), edit the name fields & other criteria, and move on from there.

    Hope this helps.

One more thing - Important! If you do it this way, you need to remember to reprice the template estimates from the database regularly to make sure that any changes to your crew, material, sub pricing, etc. is carried into the template. You also need to add new potential cost items to each template manually. The more templates that you have, the more maintenance you need to do. but it's still a time saver in the long run.
