TimeSlips 2018 License not clear in Terminal Server session on Exit

SUGGESTED

I have a client using TimeSlips 2018 in a Terminal Server environment.  The data is on the primary data server with users connecting between a number of random Terminal Servers.  According to the documentation, the licenses should clear when the user exits properly and signs off.  However, this is not happening and we have to login and clear the previous server assignments.

I've contacted Support but they were unable to assist.  Someone did mention in a different discussion thread about a batch file that can be ran, but they did not provide the details or contents.

Suggestions much appreciated!

Your understanding of licensing is slightly incorrect. Licenses are not cleared on logout. They are what I call "semi-permanent" in that they are assigned to the Windows machine/Windows user combination on first login (if a license is available). That license assignment sticks whether the user is logged in or not, and the license is counted as 'in use' and therefore not available until it is cleared. See Knowledgebase article 90956

Sage did use to provide documentation on using a batch file to clear licenses on older versions when licenses were assigned only to the Windows machine and not the user. They have removed that documentation from their knowledgebase now that they track licenses differently. Many of the Certified Consultants have that information in our libraries, and can discuss with you whether such use is appropriate for your situation.
