As a general rule, you would run the downloaded update on the server. The INI file should "tell" the server where your installation path is, if not, you should get the opportunity to browse for it.

Once the server is updated, workstations may be alerted to update from the server the next time they log in. 

So, essentially, you only need to run the downloaded file once on the server to the main install, and the workstations will get what they need from the server thereafter.

It's not acting like an upgrade when I'm asked for a product activation key. Am I missing something, the installer package is SageTimeSlipsPremium-Full.exe. 

Correct, you do NOT want the full install.

Should be what you need.

You will be installing to the D:\Timeslips folder on the server.  The "Installation Path" is the location you should concentrate on.  It pulls this information from the Windows Registry in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Sage\Timeslips\v30\General and is the Install Path parameter.  There is no INI file associated with Timeslips Premium.

The download link for the September 2023 Service Release is below - the download link you were supplied with previously may not work in the future for anyone looking at this in the future.  The filename is SageTimeslipsSR_0923.exe.  Yours says FULL_Install which is for initial installations on servers only.

I'm getting " The update was not successful. The patch could not update the following files: TSDBAP32.dll.  Any thoughts on why this is happening?. I'm trying to go from build 30.0.3.71 to 30.0.5.96.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That's an indication that another application has that file open.  Go into the Shared Folders portion of Computer Management and clear the lock on the file so that it can be updated when you run the installer.

Thanks. There are no open sessions or open or locked files and I'm getting the same error when I re-run the update.

You are logged in as an admin, and have looked in Task Manager as well to see if any applications are running that would access Timeslips?

I'm not sure how Windows can declare the file in use and not show it in management tools.  You may need to turn off antivirus or reboot that server - a very rare exception.
