how exactly do you stop syracuse?

SUGGESTED

We are working on an X3 version 9 install and found that we only had 8 licenses.  We have received our updated licenses, but cannot seem to get the license to install.  We have followed the instructions in the knowledge base (copied in the file, named it "license" with the proper extension) but we uncertain exactly how to stop syracuse.  We have started and stopped apache and have restarted the server numerous times, but the system is still not taking the new license and we cannot start an X3 instance as it keeps giving us errors that we do not have the correct license.  Can anybody help with a little more detail on exactly how to do this?

Hi Mike, I would usually install the license by going to Administration / License Upload and then opening the license file in a text editor like notepad, then copy and paste the entire file into the Content box and press upload license.

    Hope that helps

I would love to do it that way. Unfortunately we have already installed version 9 so I cannot get an instance of X3 to start because it keeps telling me I have an expired license. This way sounds incredibly easy and wish I could do it, but I cannot

    From the docs:
    ----
    Enter license data

During the Syracuse installation, you can enter a license file which will be used for the first start of the application. If you have to start the application and no license has been installed, you can also copy a license file manually to the bin/temp directory of the Syracuse installation. It must be accessible by the operating system user under which the Syracuse service runs. It must have the name license.json. When the program starts, it will read this file and rename it to license.bbb.
    ----
You can restart syracuse by going to services console (services.msc) and scrolling down to Sage Syracuse - NODE0 and restarting that service, or if you are able to restart the whole server that will restart it guaranteed :-)

    Hope that helps

Thanks for the info. We will try both. We have been restarting the server and following the instructions for copying the file into the directory, but it does not seem to be reading the file and renaming it. I will recheck spellings and see if we can figure out what is going wrong. Thanks for the info on the services console. That will help save some time instead of having to reboot the server all the time.

It could be a file security issue, first ensure that windows shows file extensions by going to Windows Explorer, go to the view tab and hit the options button on the right. Next go to the view tab and ensure that Hide Extensions for Known Filetypes is unchecked. If it was not then recheck the filename is license.json and not something else.

Next, ensure that the file security on license.json is set so everyone has full control. Right click on license.json and go the properties, then to the security tab. Press the add button and type in everyone and press ok, then put a check next to full control

    Hope that helps

We are experiencing Syracuse shutdown often. This is causing X3 v12 application downtime. Kindly assist with any possible.
