In KB shall be described how to control access with row level permissions (GESARL). What we had done a while ago - with help of row level access we controlled also user access to specific products/sites. Don't have such setup right now to explain step by step but as a guideline. Hope it will help. 

As Girts Mazais suggested the solution is using access restrictions. The problem is that the ITMSALES table does not contain the TCLCOD field. According to my tests if you add the TCLCOD to the ITMSALES when a new itme is created or an existing item is updated this filed will be filled with the [F:ITM]TCLCOD without the need of writing any code. Of course the existing itmes will have to be updated before you can use restrictions.

we have the same issue on the sales order side.  I have roles configured so users only see specific categories however it doesn't work on sales orders because the data type is different on ITMSALES.  You can try changing the data type to be the same as it is on the purchase order side as it does work there using the Roles.  We were reluctant to make that change  to the screen but because there is not TCLCOD field on ITMSALES you cannot limit by the Roles when using the selection.  It does work on the product master itself but if users use the item selection during data entry they will see those products even if restricted in the Role.  it is poor config on Sages part that they don't have it uniform with how the PO item selection is.   :-(

Christine, according to my tests you can add the TCLCOD field to the ITMSALES table and then setup a role with this field once you have updated all existing records to include the value. All new items will have the category added to the ITMSALES record without needing to modify anything else.

ah- yes- sorry- I misunderstood.  yes- that would be better than changing the data type.   I'm going to try that here.  thanks !
