Accounting task (ACCBATCH1) and batch server (Recurring Tasks) cannot run at the same time?

SUGGESTED

Hi All,

We have recently moved from Pu.9 to V11 and we are experiencing some weird issues with the recurring tasks and the accounting task.

In Pu.9 we never had any issues having the accounting task running in multiple endpoints or having the accounting task and recurring tasks running on the batch server but now we can't do either.

Our first issue was that the recurring tasks were not running and we could not figure out why because they worked when we first cut over. After closer inspection of the batch logs we found that the recurring tasks would stop running when the accounting task was started in a second endpoint (our test environment) so we turned off the other endpoint's accounting task and the recurring tasks started working as they should.

Now our issue is that when we turn the accounting task on at all (which of course we have to if we want our journals to post) the recurring tasks either fail or do not run at all. We are sure it has to do with the accounting task (ACCENTRY) running because if we shut it down (Inactive Status) and then try to initiate a recurring task it will run correctly.

This is a very strange issue and I have not been able to get this work as it should.

Has anyone experienced this before? Any ideas to why this would be happening?

Thank you in advance for any help or input you can provide!

    Hi,

Check out Sage Knowledgebase article 86224. It sounds like you have the maximum number of active queries set to 1. This is under Administration, Administration, Endpoints, Batch server in the Parameters box. The Online Help defines the field as follows:

    "Maximum no. active queries

"This field makes it possible to define the maximum number of tasks which can be active simultaneously on the corresponding Sage X3 solution's runtime. If this number is exceeded, the starting of the other pending tasks is postponed. If set to 0, the runtime is ignored and not used to launch queries."

    Hope this helps.
