How do you handle old user accounts?

SOLVED

Hey Guys,

We are running Sage X3v7. We have 550 users in the AUTILIS table and 352 are set to inactive. I am contemplating deleting the inactive users but don't know what repercussions that might have across the database. One of the main motivators for removing them to try cleaning up a bunch of overlapping and nearly useless the Functional Profiles that are attached to the inactive user accounts.

So how do you handle old user accounts? Do you delete them or just make them inactive?

Thanks,

Paul

you will not be able to delete the old users if they have made transactions or if the user was linked to any workflows.   you will receive an error like the one below.   it would be possible if you go into table maintenance and remove the user from creusr or updusr fields but I wouldn't suggest that.

a suggestion is to make one functional profile and link to the inactive users or give them ADMIN access since they are inactive anyway then you can delete those profiles that are not used.

you can delete the functional profile as long as it isn't linked to a user .

    hope this helps.

Hi Christine, is there a way to recreate or refresh as user profile while keeping the current name and what not? having an issue with some users being unable to print from the sales invoice screen and so far no assistance from Sage Disappointed

Thought of something else regarding your user printer issue.. For the users who are having issue check their user parameter settings against those of users who are not having the issue (and who share the same profile).  Possibly there is a different between the users parameter settings.   I would check under the Supervisor and Sales chapters.   Sorry I'm not much help as I'm more of a functional than technical user.  Someone more technical may have your answer.  If I think of anything else I'll reply.
