Can the Batch Server still execute a task if the syracuse server shuts down?

I have a task that runs on the batch server from 12 AM to 4AM. I am also restarting sage using the sevicestop and servicestart windows command on the syracuse server at 3am. I noticed that even though I restart sage, my task is still running on the batch server, and everything is accurate. Is the batch server connected to sql server and irrelevant to the syracuse server?

I am curious to know how my batch task is still running fine when i stop and start the sage instance.

Currently on V11, Patch 4

Thanks,

Chris
