MRP/MPS not producing desired WOS

SUGGESTED

I'm struggling to make MRP/MPS provide WOS the way I need them. There are "leftovers" from work orders that the system will count as inventory and either give messages to reduce firmed orders or give wrong WOS. This product is good for that one week, after that it should not be considered for use.

Here is an example. I put in a weekly forecast of 10 for the finished product to be able to show the issue clearly. The semi-finished product has a technical lot of 102. What I need to see is a WOS for each demand here because the product is only good for that week. This is running through MPS with only weekly buckets.

I had hoped that enabling Lot management and setting Recontrol/Expiration would do what I want, but it didn’t.

In contrast, here is a purchased product that is set to run through MPS. Here it's suggesting an order of 100 (the technical lot) for an MWF of 10 and then not considering the extra 90 for the next MWF of 12 and suggesting another order. This is how I'd like to get WOS functioning.

Any thoughts on changes to settings or parameters to address this?

    Hi

I run in the same issue a few years back: customer produced sandwiches based on forecast after 48 hours they are expired.

There is a product limit with Sage X3 on this scenario, the MRP only considers the stock expiry in the MRP (generating fake demand to remove the expired stock: VDS ) once the lot is received into stock. But when you have an life cycle of few days, you need to anticipate more than that.

You can use as a workaround the replanning, to generate a replanning message decrease the released / purchase quantity to only the quatity needed on the week. Of course, you won't apply this message but at least the system will no longer consider the excess of stock as available for the following week.

Another approach will required development in the MRP processing - can be quite complex - to create custom VDS records X days after the expected stock receipt (X corresponding to the expiry leadtime) before processing the next week. This would obvously require way more budget but it would allow to manage different expiry leadtime (1 day - 7 days).

In both cases, I would suggest to seak assistance of your Sage X3 partner.
