Hi Karabo, please, check for some development. It's not a normal behaviour. Also check how counter is configured, is it configured as database counter?

This is not a standard process, please check for customization that would only write into the screen but prevent writing in the tables.

I have used database counter in the past and even if there is a lock that prevent the creation of the record, you will get an error log and the number will not be assigned in the screen as described.

The result would the number will be lost and the next record will continue to increment the counter leading to a gap in the number sequence of existing documents.
