But it is more a generic question: should we take into account the possibility that an update could reset General Parameters found under function ADPVAL. I would think no update should ever change these parameters because that would directly impact the way users work in X3.

I would suggest creating a support case with your local support group to have this scenario tested. Parameter values shouldn't be reset unless a patch or hotfix directly impacts their code changes or updated functionality (which rarely happens).
