It does work, just ensure that you install your V12 with Apache. The new Sage X3 protocol (SADFSQ) service does not allow for use of the Telnet based ADC. 

I confirm the legacy ADC using the Java Web Server component still works with telnet, using Apache as Regard mentioned.
Words to the wise, the telnet communication isn't secured. I strongly advise you to set up secure gateways using stunnel ou ssh gateways.
