DB Authentication, password rules

SUGGESTED

Hi All,

When setting up global X3 users and setting authentication mode to 'DB', how or where do you define the password rules i.e. length, days valid etc.  ??

    Hi Gerard,

I agree, it would appear there are no controls for password complexity on this screen as it relates to the DB option. Mirabelli7's may have been pointing to the v6 settings on accident. Most people will use either standard or ldap for password complexity controls, and use other authentication as a rarity, so far as my experience goes.

Hope this helps in some way.

Is there an option to control password complexity using standard? If so, do you mind sharing?

    Hi Gerhard,

We have two internal, conflicting notes on this, which is why there is some confusion above on my mention of standard.

One note suggests it is handled by the general parameter settings, the reason I made the point above.
However, another note indicates we do not manage it, and LDAP is the tool of choice for that. I believe the latter is correct and the former is a misunderstanding, lost in translation. I just made a quick test here with the standard global user setting, with a password of one character and the password length set to 5 and it let me save. Clearly the latter note is correct.
