folder validation error

SOLVED

Hello. I have a PILOT folder in a test environment, and I'm trying to do the 'easy' upgrade from 7.1p8 to 9.0p2. I didn't set it up originally, but PILOT is based on SEEDNA, which is based on SEED. (SEEDNA and PILOT have the NA add-ons.) The upgrade process goes fine, and SEED and SEEDNA validate normally. PILOT does not.

About 90 minutes into the validation, it fails out  giving the following error:

03/11/2016 23:23:48 : No execution of migration phase 2 following error 1
Process does not exist in the archive
03/11/2016 23:23:48 : An error 1 has generated the interruption of migration phase 2 on version 60
Error in the migration processes, validation cannot be continued.
Generation End 03/11/16 23:23:48
The validation of folder PILOT has failed because of a serious error

SEEDNA and PILOT are both test+specific folders. I've tried variations on cleaning the TRT folder, un-marking test+specific, changing the 'copy folder' of PILOT from SEEDNA to X3; re-generating the 'archive', all with the same result. (The environment is virtual so I just restore it prior to every new attempt. Once this error happens PILOT cannot be re-validated.)

I'm just curious to know if anyone has any advice on the topic.

Thanks,

- Jim

    Hi Jim,

I tried out the Test checkbox on a folder we use for testing a while ago, and I was never able to validate the folder because of what I think is the same error. I had some success in getting further through the process by copying in the missing processes from the reference folder TRT directory to the test folder TRT directory. This may not be possible in your case because unlike the error I saw, yours doesn't seem to reference the name of the missing process.

I spoke to our Sage Business Partner but unfortunately they had no experience with the Test checkbox. So from memory, I unchecked this but I still had problems validating (it's been a while since I worked on the test folder). This sounds much like what you're experiencing.

Something that may help is the menu item 'Unlock folder'. We're on V6.5, and it's in Development -> Utilities -> Folders, although I don't know where it is - if at all - in PU9. I have used this to unlock a folder to allow revalidation after a failed validation.

    Cheers,
    Ben.

It is worth to ensure that all the users are log out the pilot folder, and check if there are no transactions are being processed in the batch

This ended up being a two-part issue. The error described in the log was the result of a 'create index' error earlier in the log. By preventing that error the folder validation went through. (I added a 'Z' activity code to the table in question - it was trying to reset the code field to 5, I'd changed it to 10 and the error was that it would create duplicates, which is true.) It seemed like a silly and pointless error at the time, but I guess it was preventing the validation from moving forward. This obviously could have been clearer in the log, but I shouldn't have ignored it at the time.

Now, while the folder did validate, there were still tons of errors trying in X3, which looked like it was 'missing stuff somewhere'. (Errors closing windows and things.) So I unchecked the test box, did the cleanup of the PILOT TRT folder (prior to validation) - then it all went through and worked acceptably.

    Hi,

Just wanted to know if you have found any solution for the above error as we are going through the same issue while performing an upgrade from version 6.5 to version 12.

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

    Thanks
