Historical Stock Valuation

SUGGESTED

I'm using Sage X3 (7.1.6);

I'm writing a crystal report that needs to include the value of all stock as at the end of last month.

Are there any simple ways to get this value?

Or further still, how would I get the value of stock as at the end of April 2015 (last year)?

Thanks in advance

    This is not a simple task. Depending on the size of your stock catalogue and the volume of stock transactions, there is an amount of effort required anywhere between 'considerable' and 'monumental' to perform this backdated calculation. The Stock Valuation Report - usually available at 'Inventory -> Periodic processing -> Valuation -> Stock valuation report' - can backdate but I have had problems with this. Run this report, put the desired valuation date in 'Reference date', and give it a go. Make sure you have the correct costing method entered in the 'costing mode' drop down box. For example - it's no good selecting 'Standard price' if you have no standard costs calculated or entered.

    Cheers,
    Ben.

    Note that when I talked about the amount of effort required to perform this calculation, I was talking about the effort required to manually perform it. You can run the stock valuation report with a past reference date with minimal effort, but whether it backdates accurately I can't be sure.
