How to remap fields in SEI processes after db field name changes?

Question

Some fields in our X3 db were renamed. 
 SEI process currently refers to old field names. 
 Is it possible to remap field references in process? 
 I was hoping to be able to update references in the relevant process files in CentralPoint. But this hasn't worked.

I'm not sure if I would recommend to do this but I tested it and it worked. 
 There is a table BIP42 table which stores the xml that you see in the process files. 
 I first modified a column name of a Sql View (it should be the same for a table). I then updated the proper record in BIP42. I then modified the process xml and I also modified a view xml and both the process and report/view picked up the changes accordingly.
