From my testing today, it seems like the work center can be changed on a work order, regardless if there is an alternate route or not, but as long as the work center is considered a replacement.

The catch tough, is that the run times and set up times don't seem to update to match the alternate route if there is one.  So if i set up a work center as a replacement but it runs twice as slow, my load is not going to be correct.

Has anyone else found this or has a way to "deal" with this situation ?  How can I update my WO to an alternate route and have the true time load be reflected ?

Have you tried using the Batch Process, WO Upgrade? It will give an option to upgrade the BOM or Routing or Both. This process reverts the work order to the current records.
