Work Center Replacement and Routings

Do I need to create an alternate routing for every type of work center replacement configuration ?

for example:

if my routing alt 1 calls for work center A

and I set a replacement for work center A to be work center Z and run the optimization function in the production scheduler

do I need to create an alternate route 2 that has work center Z so that the work order is updated correctly ?

From my testing today, it seems like the work center can be changed on a work order, regardless if there is an alternate route or not, but as long as the work center is considered a replacement.

The catch tough, is that the run times and set up times don't seem to update to match the alternate route if there is one.  So if i set up a work center as a replacement but it runs twice as slow, my load is not going to be correct.

Has anyone else found this or has a way to "deal" with this situation ?  How can I update my WO to an alternate route and have the true time load be reflected ?
