Copy Processes to be Used in Another Environment

SUGGESTED

Using SEI 8.2.8.  I have 3 environments linked to 3 different data sources.  Can I copy a process from one environment to another?  I tried but when I save the data source in the process properties I get an error that the source cannot be empty.

Or, can I set up one process to be used in different environments?

    Hi Bruce,

I am using SEI 8.2.6 but, unless this has changed, you should be able to use the same process across all of your data sources as long as the following conditions are met:

    • Data Source Description is the same for the data sources across all environments
    • Table structure and the columns included in the process match across data sources

Alternatively, if you need a version of the process for a production environment that does not include changes that might still be in development in a test environment, you will want to copy the process from that test environment and then make your changes to the copy. You should be able to do this by right clicking on the process and selecting "Copy Process" assuming you have the permission to do so in your Functional Role.

    Hope this helps!

I should note that I am pretty new to SEI and our development/deployment processes have not been worked out yet so there my be better ways of dealing with development and deployment that I just haven't worked through yet.
